It is preferable to take herbal medicines which not only cure the diseases but also prevents them. They increase the resistance power of the body to fight against the diseases. One of the herbal medicines prepared by Guru Ramdevji is the Divya Panchakol Chaoorna. This herbal medicine is prepared by mixing various herbs in powder form. The herbs included in this medicine are long pepper (pipli), roots of long pepper (piplimul), ginger, stem of chavika (piper chava) and the roots of chitraka (plumbago zeylanica). The powder is made by grounding equal amounts of the above five herbs. This herbal medicine is used to treat indigestion problems and many stomach related diseases. The herbs taken in this medicine not only cures various diseases but also prevents the diseases.
In Ayurveda, pippali is considered as one of the renowned herbs which not only cures the stomach related diseases but also treats the respiratory and lungs disorders. It is efficient in four ways: it can be used as a spice, it can be used as a home remedy, it is a powerful herb used in many ayurvedic medicines and it is a catalyst which increases the potentiality of other herbs and drugs. It contains alkaloids, terpenoids and volatile oil which reduce pitta of the body. Apart from this, it acts as an expectorant, lung rejuvenator, decongestant and bronchodilator.

The roots of the herb are used for the preparation of various herbal medicines. Before using the herb citraka it is cleansed in lime water. The herb is usually used internally and rarely used externally. Externally, the paste of the herb is used for the treatment of pigmentation of the skin, arthritic and rheumatic joint pains, swelling all over the body and filariasis. Internally it can cure a variety of diseases.
But it is recommended to take in small doses due to its sharp and hot properties. It is a boon to the patients suffering from stomach related diseases like indigestion, worms, loss of appetite, liver diseases, ascites, piles, and colitis. When taken with root of mustak and fruit of vidanga mixed in honey, a person gets relief from indigestion, constipation and skin rashes. The mixture helps in boosting the digestion power of the stomach and appetite of the body. It is also useful to treat the disease piles and stops bleeding. Besides it acts as a rejuvenator. The herb is very effective in colitis, oedema, chronic cold and cough. The herb helps in enlarging the spleen and liver.
Another herb ginger is used as a home remedy for various diseases. The herb is commonly used for the treatment of cold related diseases. It is used more during winter to keep the body hot. It has preservative, analgesic, anti-bacterial, expectorant, antispasmodic, anti-inflammatory, stimulant and antiseptic properties. All the above herbs are mixed together in equal quantities to form a powder that is called churna. The churna is then taken to cure the stomach disorders. The dosage prescribed by the practitioners is 10 to 30 grains twice a day with warm water or milk.
