Home Remedies for Gout

Gout is a very painful form of arthritis which occurs when there is excess of uric acid deposition in the body that is very difficult for the kidneys to eliminate it quickly.The uric acid deposits get collected in the joints and they seem swollen. The joints of wrists, knees, elbows, feet get swollen. The body part that suffers most from gout is big toe.A night attack of gout can be extremely painful.

To get rid of gout, some of the home remedies for gout are mentioned below:

· Eating an apple after every meal is a natural home remedy for gout.

· Drink a glass of water with juice of half lemon in it. Take it thrice a day. This will help in curing gout.

· Another effective home remedy for treating gout is to drink half cup juice of fresh beans everyday for about a month.

· Consuming about fifteen to twenty five cherries a day is also a superior home remedy for treating gout. The cherries can be either fresh or canned. Cherries reduce uric-acid levels.

· Drinking simple water also helps in curing gout as it removes the toxins from the body and thus decreases the level of uric acid in the body. This is the cheapest home remedy for gout.

· Direct application of ice to the inflamed swollen joints helps in removing gout. You may feel uncomfortable in applying it but please be patient. Though it provides quick relief from pain, it is temporary remedy for curing gout. You need some other remedies to remove the deposits of uric acid from the body.

· Eating strawberries help in neutralizing the uric acid level, thus treating gout.

· Natural home remedy for gout is to eat nine bananas daily.

· Take three raw garlic bulbs everyday as it helps in reducing the uric acid of the body.For better results, you can even chop the garlic and put it in black cherries juice and take it in the early morning.

· Boil three tablespoons of vinegar and nine rose petals such that it becomes a paste, then apply it on the affected area.

· Exercise daily in fresh air to treat gout. Exercising keeps the body weight under control, helps in removing the body's waste products, strengthenes the joint muscles and thus removing gout.

· Take food that are rich in Vitamin C content.

· Take a cup of water. Mix equal quantity of vinegar and one tea-spoon of pepper. Boil the mixture and apply the mixture on the painful area. Leave it for 2-3 hours. This is one of the natural home remedy for gout.

· Alfalfa is a very good home remedy for preventing gout. It decreases the level of uric acid in the body.

· Take ibuprofen to get relief from the pain.

· Apply few drops of juniper oil on the affected area. Drinking lots of water will be added advantage.

· Keep the affected area under cold running water. This hydrotherapy will temporary soothe the pain.

· Don't wear pointed narrow toe shoes. They can worsen the condition of gout pain.

· Try to put less weight on the joint as putting weight on the joints can increase the pain.

· Raise your foot-end so as to avoid the rushing of blood to the joints that are suffering from gout.

· If the pain is concentrated to the big toe, soak your feet in warm water having Epsom salt in it. Let it be in water till the water starts losing heat.

· Put a piece of flannel cloth soaked with Castor oil over the affected area and then wrap it with plastic or heating pads. This is a effective remedy for reducing gout pain. One of the best home remedies for gout.

· Take equal quantities of mustard powder and whole wheat powder. Take some water and make a paste of it and apply it on the affected areas. Leave it overnight.

· Consumption of two teaspoon of apple cider vinegar with two teaspoon of honey twice a day minimises the gout pain.

· Try to have a low-calorie diet. Adopt diet that is high in proteins.

· Safflower is another natural remedy that reliefs the pain.

· Put your feet in bath tub having one-third cup of ground ginger. After doing this, make sure that you take a thorough bath.
