Vatsanabha: It is a poisonous drug used as an anti-inflammation medicine in Ayurveda. It is mixed with cow’s milk, goat’s milk, cow’s urine, etc. after suitable ‘Shodhana’ treatment. It is very much useful in the treatment of pains and swollen joints, arthritis, rheumatism and related diseases.

Root of Pippali: The root of pippali is very much useful in the treatment of various stomach-related diseases. It can also cure lung and upper respiratory disorders through its rejuvenative effects. Besides, it has anti-infective, anti-inflammatory and anti-cancer properties.

Jatamamshi: The roots of the herb are used to cure pain and swelling. Apart from this, it is useful in treating various skin diseases. It is also effective on the burns. It makes the complexion fair and acne-free. The oil extracted from the herb can be used as a hair oil to get silky, smooth and healthy hair.

Teja-patra (bay leaf): this herb is rich in Vitamins A and C, iron and manganese and small amount of potassium, magnesium and calcium. The oil extracted from the herb is massaged on the affected parts to get relief from swellings, arthritic and rheumatic pains, backache and sprains.

Root of Citraka: the root of the herb is first washed with limewater to use it in the medicine. Its use relieves our body from various diseases like filariasis, skin pigmentation and swellings all over the body. When it is applied on the affected parts, boils appear on the skin and gradually they burst out releasing the impurities. It is very much effective in rheumatism.

Madhu-yasti: the herb acts as an expectorant and helps in the treatment of muscular pains, strains and spasms. It also reduces inflammation and thus, it is very much effective in treating diseases like arthritis and rheumatism.

Haridra: the roots of the herb are used externally to relieve from painful wounds. The paste is used to treat bruises, inflammatory ailments of the joints, sprains and wounds. It also acts as a facial tonic and cures acne making the complexion fair.

Shatavari: the oil extracted from the herb is very effective in treating vata diseases and vata-pitta diseases. The oil is massaged on the affected parts to strengthen the muscles, reduce pain in sciatica, lumbago and inflamed joints. It is also effective in treating paralysis.

Rasna: The herb contains an alkaloid that is useful in treating various rheumatic disorders. The alkaloid has the potential to mix with various medicated oils. The massage of this oil relieves the swollen and painful joints and can cure arthritic and rheumatoid diseases. It can also be taken internally to cure various vata diseases.

Jyotishmati: the oil is massaged to get relief from various vata diseases like lumbago, paralysis, facial palsy, sciatica and arthritis. It is mixed with cow’s urine to heal the wounds and ulcers. It is also effective in curing piles and various skin diseases like scabies, etc. the leaves of the herb are also effective in alleviating pain.

Sunthi (dry ginger): the dry ginger is very hot and it is taken to control the cold related diseases. The intake of dry ginger keeps our body hot and prevents our body from arthritic and rheumatic diseases. It is also used externally to reduce pain and swelling in rheumatic conditions in the form of oil.

Nirgundi: the herb is very much effective in treating the swollen and painful joints. The herb is used as steam bath to treat low back pain. The oil is very much effective in the treatment of arthritis, rheumatism, joint pains and sciatica. Every part of the herb is used in the herbal medicine to cure pain and swellings.

Daru-haridra: the fruit, bark, wood, root and stem extracts of this herb is used in the herbal medicine to treat pain in every part of our body. The herb is also effective in treating the painful wounds, pruritus, piles, earache, pimples and boils, skin ulcers and inflammation in the eyes.

Manjistha: the root of the herb has an effective medicinal value in treating the skin diseases, wounds and skin ulcers. It is used in the ointment form to heal up the burns and scalds. It is effective in healing the inflammation. Besides, it keeps the skin smooth, toned and acne-free.

Dhattura: the flowers, leaves, roots and seeds of the herb is very effective in treating inflammation and pain in every part of the body. Due to the poisonous nature of the seeds, they are purified by cooking in cow’s milk and then soaking in cow’s urine. Then they are used in the herbal medicine.

Bhringa-raja: the plant and its seeds is very much useful in mitigating pain and swelling during filariasis and glandular swellings. The wounds are also healed up using its paste. It also treats pigmentation of skin, earaches and conjunctivitis. The oil is very effective in treating every hair disease.

Pushkara-mula: the root of the herb is very effective in treating various wounds and skin ulcers. It acts as an antiseptic and helps in alleviating pain and oedema. The oil has antibacterial and antifungal property that is very much effective in treating various skin diseases.

Root of Palasa: the seeds, barks, leaves, gum and flowers of the herb are used in medicines. The seeds are helpful in treating skin diseases like eczema, eye diseases, oedema and ringworm. The bark is used in local bath to treat piles. The seeds are very effective in treating the pain due to scorpion bites.

Apart from the above herbs, Naga-keshara, Sugandha-bala, Misreya (Saunf), root of Arka, Ajamoda (Ajavayan), Jivaka, Meda, Vriddhi, etc. are various other herbs that are mixed with sesame oil, cow’s milk, curd (yoghurt), rock-salt to prepare this herbal medicine, which immediately relieves pain in lumbar region and knee-joints, joint pain, spondylitis, trauma, oedema and inflammation.
